Accused of ruining the future of students, Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood was asked to resign.

The All Pakistan Private Schools and Colleges Association has demanded the resignation of Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood, accusing him of failing to address the problems of private educational institutions and ruining the future of millions of students during the Corona epidemic.
The All Pakistan Private Schools and Colleges Association has said that due to poor government strategy, about 20% of private educational institutions across the country have been closed while one million teachers are facing the monster of unemployment. The government should allow the opening of private educational institutions under appropriate SOPs while announcing appropriate relief packages in terms of rents, salaries and other expenses.

The All Pakistan Private Schools and Colleges Association held an online emergency meeting on Tuesday regarding the current dire situation facing private educational institutions across the country. It was presided over by Central President Malik Abrar Hussain. The meeting was also attended by eminent education experts including four provincial officials. In a statement issued to the media on the occasion, Malik Abrar Hussain said that it was unfortunate to say that the present government had failed to improve the education system of the country contrary to all its claims.

During the Corona epidemic, private educational institutions in particular were in a state of disarray, with 20 percent of private schools closed and the number expected to reach 50 percent. He said that the Federal Minister of Education was responsible for the whole situation. Who have failed to discharge their responsibilities and have not been able to represent the country's educational institutions in relevant forums, including the Prime Minister and the National Security Council. Therefore, we demand the immediate resignation of Shafqat Mahmood and the transfer of this responsibility to a competent person.

Malik Abrar Hussain said that teachers have been severely affected so a "tax free education relief package" should be announced for them. It is illogical to keep schools closed until August. If the government allows, classes can be continued at school timings from 7 to 10 in the morning and in two shifts while maintaining social distance.

He feared that in the current situation, 50% of private educational institutions would be completely closed and 1 million teachers would be unemployed. 2.5 crore Pakistani girls are already deprived of education. In such cases, a total of 75 million students have been deprived of their right to education, of which 50% are girls.

He said that the children of the rich can study at home with tuition but the children of the poor have been deprived of their legitimate rights. Online education and home TV is a flop drama. It should be stopped. Malik Abrar Hussain said that the worst affected countries are China, Wuhan, Spain, England, India, Iran, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, USA, Russia, Denmark, France, Switzerland, Austria, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Japan and Korea. Educational institutions are open in Saudi Arabia, Israel, Hong Kong, etc., so why are Pakistani children being deprived of education?

He further said that instead of canceling the board exams, the exams should be made compulsory by maintaining social distance. The demand for new board registration fees is cruel as the boards have already received Rs 25 billion from 4.5 million students in terms of fees. He appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan, the President of Pakistan, the Chief of Army Staff and the Prime Minister for redressal and demanded that the Education Minister, who is hostile to education, be sacked.
